Rusty sea-linked-chains; the inspiration comes from my sketches and photographs from holidays where boats are moored in their harbours and chains are just piled up or discarded on beaches, but also touching on life’s connection with each other amongst nature.
I prepared both the frame and base-board with copper rust effect paints, then waited overnight for the chemical reaction to happen. I painted the links using acrylics with added sand which really did pick up on the chain as they’re full of exciting texture which really lends itself to the conditions of erosion. The painting is unglazed/unsealed so you can appreciate the textured surface.
